New ‘Man Who Fell To Earth’ coming to Nuart

THE MAN WHO FELL TO EARTH, the iconic 1976 Nicolas Roeg sci-fi film with David Bowie, will be screened in a new 35mm print of the uncut version from July 8-14, 2011 at Nuart Theatre in West Los Angeles.

Space oddity David Bowie lands on late-20th Century Earth from a drought-stricken planet, seeking water and help for what remains of his civilization. His highly advanced technology allows him to become a wealthy industrialist, but American decadence‚ -including television, booze, sex and stock issues‚ – prove to have a much stronger gravitational pull. Bowie’s cinematic debut only brightened his already iconic cultural status, aided by a notable cast of very earthly creatures: Buck Henry, Candy Clark and Rip Torn. This dazzling, visionary sci-fi allegory also further cemented director Nicolas Roeg’s stature as one of the era’s most original filmmakers. Cut by 20 minutes for its original U.S. run, this 35th anniversary release is the completely uncut version. (UK, 1976)

The Nuart Theatre is located at 11272 Santa Monica Boulevard, just west of the 405 Freeway, in West Los Angeles. For program information call 310-281-8223 or go to www.landmarktheatres.com.
