This is just what the West Coast of California needs…proper fish’n’chips served up by a couple of Brits. And who better to run a tradtional ‘chippy’ than movie heartthrob Jason Stathamand ex soccer bad boyVinnie Jones…
And I’m told the duo plan to call their Los Angeles eaterie, Lock Stock and Two Smoking Haddocks – and not Barrels as in their hit 1998 movie…
They might want to rethink that name however, as it could well see Guy Ritchieon the phone to his lawyers for a ‘slice’ of the, er… fish action!
The lads, who both live in Tinseltown, hope their chip-shop will be the best in town, catering for the growing army of expats in the seaside suburb, Santa Monica.
A friend of Vinnie’s told me: “Over a few drinks with Stath’ [Jason] recently they both thought there was a real need for a proper Chippy in LA, one that does traditional – good old fashion fish’n’chips, with vinegar, mushy peas, the lot!” Adding, “Vinnie has wanted to do this for sometime.”
I think this is is a great idea, if there is one thing I miss about England it is proper fish’n’chips…
One person I know who will also be thrilled at the idea is Jason’s sexy girlfriend Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, the actress and model recently admitted in Maxim magazine that she was a total junk-food junkie… And though some might not consider fish’n’chips as junk food, I reckon it’s one of the greasiest dishes I know… But with salt and a dash of vinegar the taste is heaven!
