The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have touched down in Los Angeles as they continue their first official overseas trip as a married couple.
Prince William will play in a charity polo match later on Saturday, with Kate due to present the winners’ trophy.
Their engagements also include a Bafta black-tie reception, and a visit to a community arts body working in the deprived Skid Row area of the city.
The California trip follows a nine-day visit to Canada by the royals.
Speaking shortly ahead of their arrival, Sir Nigel Sheinwald, Britain’s ambassador to the US, said: “They have had a fantastically successful trip to Canada and they will have a great welcome in California.
“They will meet a huge range of people from the governor to people working in the projects of Skid Row. They will get a good snapshot of life in this part of California.”
The couple’s first engagement will be a UK Trade and Investment reception bringing together US and UK technology experts.
William and Kate will also visit a jobs fair staged by Service Nation: Mission Serve, an umbrella organisation of charities that supports the reintegration of servicemen and women into civilian life.
