The first official promotional commercial for the American edition of the singing competition The X Factor has been revealed and it presents the show as both a nightmare and a dream come true for executive producer and judge Simon Cowell.
In the promo, Cowell is initially shown being overly kind toward second-rate singers performing the songTomorrow from the broadway musical Annie; however, the often hyper-critical Cowell is revealed to be experiencing a nightmare after he wakes up in bed. A montage of clips demonstrating the true cutthroat and sensational conduct of the X Factor judges is exposed and Cowell is shown flaunting his allegedly materialistic bad-boy lifestyle.
The advertisement promotes the American version of The X Factor as the answer to Cowell’s prayers, but so far the Fox talent show has gotten off to a rocky start. Contract negations for almost-judge Cheryl Cole and former American Idol judge Paula Abdul were reportedly very rough and sparked a lot of controversy for the new show. In reality, Cowell, who had to personally apologise to Cole for her ousting, has reportedly experienced a lot of emotional stress while developing the show.
So far, it seems like the American version of The X Factor has been closer to a nightmare than a dream for old Si. Remember Simon, things might get better tomorrow… it’s always a day away!
