Carey Mulligan is already a big star, but the actress is likely to shine brighter than ever playing the iconic character of Daisy Buchanan in an upcoming film adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s classic The Great Gatsby. Mulligan will star alongside Leonardo DiCaprio as the affluent Jay Gatsby and Tobey Maquire as narrator Nick Carraway.
At this year’s Comic-Con, Mulligan discussed her experience preparing to work on the project and said: “I’ve had so much time and I’ve been able to read so much Fitzgerald. I went to Princeton where they keep all his papers and I got to look at Zelda Fitzgerald’s medical records and got to look at the most amazing stuff, the first manuscript of The Great Gatsby.”
Speaking to the BBC, Mulligan also added: “It’s daunting. It’s the biggest thing I’ve been involved in – it’s strange going from a little off-Broadway play to such a big thing, but I’m raring to go…”
Carey will undoubtedly blossom on the silver screen as the alluring Daisy. You might say she won’t need to take a mulligan in this one….
