Cohen voice woes delay Les Miz lensing…

Funnyman Sacha Baron Cohen has delayed shooting of the new Les Misérables movie after losing his voice.

The Dictator star, who plays Monsieur Thénardier, was ordered by his doctors to take a rest until his is vocal cords repair. This means the filming schedule has to be rearranged until Baron Cohen has made a full recovery.

All songs in the movie are sung as live, and director Tom Hooper wants perfection on all performances. Which means stars including Anne Hathaway, Amanda Seyfried, Hugh Jackman, and Russell Crowe have to belt out their big numbers repeatedly in order to get them right.

A source involved with the production said:“Sacha is taking some time out.

“It’s a real shame because the new shooting dates have resulted in some singers becoming unavailable as they have prior engagements which have to be fulfilled first.”

Baron Cohen isn’t any newcomer to singing in films, he previously showed off his vocal talents in Tim Burton’s Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street – and will reportedly do so again, if he gets the chance to play Freddie Mercury in an upcoming “Queen” biopic.

Ali G fans might also remember Sacha performed many raps in Ali G Indahouse, thankfully that show wasn’t turned into a musical

Les Misérables opens in cinemas on December 14 in the US and January 11 in the UK.
